namaskar and welcome to nishamadhulika.com today we wil make sabudana(sago pearls) khichdi. sabudana khichdi is very delicious and can be served in breakfast or in fast. let's see what all ingredients are required for making sabudana khichdi. sago pearls - 1 cup (150 grams approx)
brat diet dinner recipes, peanuts - 1 tbsp (roasted and cleaned)(ground them coarsely) cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp asafoetida - 1 pinch green chilly - 1-2 (finely chopped)
ginger - 1 inch piece (grated) paneer - 60-70 grams (cut in small pieces) salt - as per taste (or 3/4 tsp) green coriander leaves - 1 tbsp (finely chopped) tomato - 1 (finely chopped) oil - for making khichdi sago pearls are available in two sizes one is small and other is big. khichdi made with big sago pearls is more delicious and soak big sago pearls 8 hours before bringing in use. whereas small sago pearls are soaked just 1 hour before making khichdi.
we are using big sago pearls soaked for 8 hours. preheat pan and add 1 tbsp oil into it. add asafoetida,cumin seeds,green chilly,ginger,tomatoes. masala is ready,now add sago pearls into it. also add salt. mix all ingredients very nicely. now add 2 tbsp water into it. cover the pan with help of lid and cook for 5-6 minutes. keep stirring after every 1-2 minutes or it will stick to the pan.
add 1-2 tbsp more water if needed. meanwhile fry paneer chunks. for this take 2-3 tsp oil in a pan. when oil gets hot place paneer chunks in the pan and fry until they turn little brown in color. you can also add green peas,carrot or capsicum in the khichdi. if you using peas in khichdi then you cannot eat this during fast. add any vegetable of your chioce after frying them for few minutes. paneer is fried now take it out in a bowl. also saute the peanuts to make them little crispy.
khichdi is ready and sago pearls have become tender. now add roasted peanuts and fried paneer chunks in the khichdi. also add coriander leaves. nutritious and yummy sabudana khichdi is ready.
